14 Suspects and Their Roommates Arrested in Sokode Lokoe in Massive Fraud Crackdown
14 suspects were arrested yesterday at a residence in Sokode Lokoe for embezzling funds from individuals by promising to arrange visas for overseas opportunities.
The suspects claim they are employed by a company named Q-Net, where they allegedly extorted large sums of money from individuals by promising to secure employment for them.
One of their victims is a Togolese national who paid them for a visa to travel abroad in search of better opportunities.
The team was ordered to refund 5,000 Ghana cedis to Sebastian Dosu, the victim who paid for a visa that was never provided by the detainees.
The fourteen suspects were arrested yesterday, August 22, 2024, at their workplace.
They appeared before the Ho District Court on August 23, 2024, where His Lordship, Mr. Albert Owusu Anor, remanded them on charges of conspiracy and fraud. The suspects are scheduled to reappear in court on August 30, 2024.
Investigations are currently underway under the direction of Sergeant Otibu Gyan.
