NDC Has Organized Nationwide Demonstration to Demand a Forensic Audit of the Voter Register
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Has organized nationwide demonstrations across the sixteen regions to demand a Forensic voter register audit on 17 September 2024.
Hundreds of protesters, including party members, sympathizers, and concerned groups, dressed in red and black, marched through the streets of Ho and other regions to the regional EC offices. They were demanding a forensic audit of the voter register.
They contended that this is the only way to guarantee the credibility of the upcoming elections.
The NDC has raised concerns about irregularities in the voter register to the Electoral Commission, but the EC chairperson has yet to take any action to address these issues.
This lack of response has led to the demonstration titled “Enough is Enough.”
Speaking with some participants in the protest, they emphasized the need for the Electoral Commission to conduct a forensic audit of the voter register to ensure credible elections.
The NDC’s Volta Regional Chairman, Mr. Mawutor Agbavitor, presented a petition to the Electoral Commission’s Director, Mr. Eric Kofi Dzakpasu.
According to Agbavitor, Ghanaians are demanding a credible voter register, and the Electoral Commission must conduct an audit to ensure free and fair elections on December 7.
Several MPs from the Volta region participated in the “Enough is Enough” demonstration. Among those present were Hon. Charles Agbeve, the Member of Parliament for Agotime-Ziope; Hon. Kwame Agbodzah, the MP for Adaklu; North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; and Hon. Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, the MP for South Dayi. All were dressed in red attire to show their support for the cause.
The Ghana Police, especially the Volta command, played a vital role in maintaining peace and order during yesterday’s protest. Thank you to DCOP Mr. Andrews Boadu Ekumah and his 2IC, ACP Mr. Joseph Owusu Ansah, for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to upholding the law.
